REFLECTION ON EVERY CLASS SESSIONS

 

WEEK 1 ( 8/10/2020 )

    This is the first week in my first semester, also our first class for subject Information and Communication Technology in Chemistry (SKI 3013). I felt really excited to attend this class because this is my first time learn from Dr. Hafsa Bin Taha. At this first class, Dr. Hafsa gave us some briefing and explaination about the profroma and all of the assignments that we have to do for this semester. Good news to know for me when there is no final exam for this course! But as we know, when there is no final exam, 100% of the assessment is from our tasks and assignments given. That will be a little bit tough and hard for us but its okay, hopefully everything is going well and I can finished all the assignment with really good and submit before the due date. Dr. Hafsa give advice that we just have to put all of our effort when finishing this assignment, then we do not have to worry about the marks. There is five assignments that we need to settle down, one forum at myGuru, one test and one presentation.

The assignment is:

1. Assignment 1 (ICT Based Assessment Tool)

2. Assignment 2 (Infusing ICT in Lesson)

3. Assignment 3 (Developing Teaching Material)

4. Assignment 4 (E-portfolio)

5. Assignment 5 (Promoting a product)

    At the end of our class, Dr Hafsa has inform that we have to do forum at myGuru. Forum given to us is about issues in the application of ICT in chemistry. That's all for my first week class.

WEEK 2( 15/10/2020 )

    In this week, we have learn about student 21st century learners. From this learning session, I have know what types of 21st century learners. There are 7 characteristic that I have learned in this class which is digital natives, visual learner, addicted to reward processing experience, short attention span, shallow information processing, enjoy playing games to obtain knowledge and last but not least there are multitasking at the same time. From this information given in this class, I realised that, as a teacher in 21st century we need to create an interesting space for student. This is the way to get engaged with them and to seek their attention to focus in the class. As a teacher to be I will improve my skill to be a good teacher.

WEEK 3 ( 22/10/2020 )

    In week 3, first group of presentation has started. This group consist of 3 member's, Arina Baziyah, Siti Nurazha and Mandy. This first group are representing nanotechnology using ICT tool, Microsoft Excel. From this learning lesson, I know how to make a table and also graph using microsoft excel. But sadly this group are not represent about how to use this microsoft excel in teaching based on 3E, engaged, empower and enhance. Dr Hafsa Taha has told them to do presentation again in the next week. Overall in this class for week 3 i have gain a lot of new knowledge about how to use this ICT tool.

WEEK 4 ( 26/10/2020 )

    This week Mandy and Arina has explained how to use Microsoft Excel in lesson learning based on 3E. From this class, I know that Microsoft Excel was suitable to use show data to the class at their first learning. Using this microsoft its make student easy to see the data that have been collected.

WEEK 5 ( 28/10/2020WEDNESDAY & 29/10/2020 THURSDAY )

    In this week 5 our class was continue with presentation from group 2 and group 3. Group 2 consist of 3 member's, Nurhaliza, Luqman and Nur Syafiqa. This group are presenting how use Microsoft PowerPoint based on chapter aloi and its importance. This group was teached the class how to insert picture, video and also hyperlink in our Microsoft PowerPoint. During this class, I can gain my knowledge on how to use Microsoft PowerPoint efficiently.

    In the next day, our class was continue with presentation group 3. Alia, This group also consist of three membr's, Fazliana Hanim and Syarifah Nadhirah. They have been represented about how to sign up using blogger and how to use. Topic that they have been represent is glass composition and its uses. For me this group very help us to do our e-portfolio and also our next assignment which is promoting a product using blog. From this presentation I know how to start my blog by my own.

WEEK 6 ( 11/11/2020 )

    In week 6, group presentation session was continue with group 4. This group has 3 member's, Sarah Nuraqilah, Nurul Ain and Rovyonnie that has been represent about green technology using wix application tools. This group teach our class on how to create account and also use it. From this presentation, I learned that wix has same function as blogger which is we can create our blog using wix too. Moreover, we also can create our website using this wix application tool. Its sounds interesting to me because this is my really first learn about this app.

That's all for week 6. For week 7 we did't have a class because its midsem break. I have take this chance to do my assignment.

WEEK 8 ( 26/11/2020 )

    Week 8 is turn group 5 to present about ceramic composition and its uses by using Screencast-O-Matic. This group member's is Leo Orneil, Henny Henry, Assrina Batrisyha and Alia Arina. This group was teached us how to use this Screencast-O-Matic. From this class I have learned that we can use this application record our teaching session and give to students. Its very interesting application and helpful in learning session. I hope I can use this application well in the future.

WEEK 9 ( 3/12/2020 )

    This week presentation was continued with group 6 that consist of 4 member's, Erreca, Mohamad Aidil, Nurazurina and Er Hao Quan. Group 6 was presented about composite materials and their importance using application from Moviemaker. From this group presentation, I know how to sign up and use moviemaker as ICT tools in learning session. MovieMaker concept is just same as Screencast-O-Matic which is we can provided video for student about the certain topic that we want.

WEEK 10 ( 17/12/2020 )

    This week presentation was continued with group 7 that consist of 4 member's, Chok Wei Haw, Siti Nuratikah, Nurul Balqis and Nur Shahira Ashikin. Group 6 was presented about chemical cell using application from seesaw. This group has present on how to sign in and use the seesaw application. This application consist of two features which is one for student and another one for teacher. In this class, Dr Hafsa Taha has give them advice to use chemskecth because its more suitable to draw chemical apparatus. This group need to represent in another week using chemskecth application or similiar with that. From this class, I learned that seesaw was suitable to use in lesson session if we want to give them task using seesaw features. We also can see student's work by seesaw application.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

    When I decided to apply course Bachelor in Chemistry Education , many of them ask me why I want to be chemistry teacher. My answer towards that’s question just one reasons. I want to be a teacher that can give inspiration to my future students. Why? This is because when I was at primary and secondary school my teacher was my inspiration to become a successful person. That’s why I want my future student to feel the same just like I feel. I also want them to have a great experience at school with my guide as their teacher

 

My teaching philosophy is I will able to use variety method of teaching for instance linguistic, visual, auditory and kinesthetic. As we know every student has their own way to adapt and learn the certain subject. This is because every student has their own personality and uniqueness, that’s why their learning method has different from each other. In my opinion, if teacher use this variety of methods the learning lesson could be more efficient and interesting to student. Plus, everyone in that classroom be able to participate well in learning session and nobody will left behind.

 

More that that, instead being a strict teacher, I will be their mentor to get engaged with my student. In my opinion, if a teacher orders student around, they will be given less respect but if I keep them in line without being too controlling, they will be more effective listeners in classroom. I also will create a type of democracy which is everyone will have chance to voice in their educational curriculum. Student should be allowed to have some sort of input into the type of education there are receiving. I will not act like I am more intelligent than they are because student and also teacher will continuous learning unstoppable from experience and sharing. Teacher will never give up and learning never stop.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT PLAN

    

 I am still studying at Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) in Bachelor of Education in Chemistry with honours. I am a first year student and I still have more three years left to complete my study. First and foremost, I hope that I can complete my degree study with Dean's List. Dean's List Award and also I hope I can graduate on the time although there are many obstacles to faces. Plus, my family has always been beside me to support and give some motivation through thick and thin.

      In my development plan, after I have graduated from UPSI, I will apply for a teacher's job through Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Pelajaran (SPP). If I will be interviewed to become a teacher, I really hope I can doing well for my interview. I will take this opportunity to do my best to achieve my dream to become a great chemistry teacher. My next dreams is I hope if I didn't get interview, I will open my own tuition class centre. Open a tuition centre is my dream to helps the students who need extra classess with less monthly fee.

        To be chosen as a teacher, I have to make sure that I have a skills that can make me different from other people. That's why in order to get my dream I have my vision and aspirations to make sure my plan will run smoothly. My vision as a future chemistry teacher towards my classroom is to create an atmosphere where each student feels comfortable, accepted and valued. My big goals as teacher to achieve is to discover ways to make learning process more innovative, enjoyable, creative and rewarding. Hopefully, this could gives positive outcomes to each student in my classroom. I also will integrate conceptual technology learning techniques that will implement concrete knowledge of technology.

      Aspirations as a teacher are to encourage competency, transformational and life-long learning and critical thinking. My own aspiration is to set a goal that ensuring learning and teaching environment will provide students with an outstanding student experience. For me, every student has to give a chance to become a successful person in their life.  As a teacher I will help them to realized their potential and change their mindset that learning just not only for get a great grade and mark in exam but also to be a educational person with respectful in their life.

        Last but not least, I hope my dreams to get Dean's List Award, to become a teacher and to set up a tuition centre will become true one day.
